Solar Panels on our studio roof by Solar City

Happy Summer to all our wonderful friends out there!
We are crossing our fingers that we get a good warm summer this year…last summer was a bit on the cold side.
It seems the sun is cooperating this year and we have had a week  of beautiful summery weather so far.
Of course my husband, Brent, and I do have an ulterior motive for wanting that sun to show it’s cheery face- we got solar panels!

It’s official
Designs by Lenila is using solar energy to run our computers, printers and our entire studio.
We strive to be an environmental friendly company by using sustainable materials and earth conscious business practices.

The card stock we use is at least 30% post consumer paper and on request we do have 100% recycled cardstock,
just bear in mind that recycled paper will have natural flecks on the surface.
All our products are packaged and hand-made in the USA, by us or by individuals with disabilities.
Our Christmas cards shown below were packaged by a wonderful company that employs people living with disabilities.
It gives these guys some work experience and a job they can be proud of.
We donate 10% of our proceeds to organizations that aid in autism.

Any materials we do import are organic in nature and are harvested from sustainable plants.

Mulberry paper, the material primarily used in our invitations,
are produced from the bark of the mulberry (saa) tree using an old technique
that allows the bark of the tree to be harvested without destroying the tree.
The tree actually continues to thrive and grow. The resulting textured paper is
dried in the sun before being used to make assorted colors of mulberry paper.

One of our most popular organic products, the sinamay container,
is a roughly made mesh fiber woven from the by-product of banana leaves.
Sinamay is sturdy yet flexible and makes for an attractive container or envelope
for eco-minded consumers who want the tropical flair in their events.

We hope you have a great summer… enjoy the moment and be green!
Be nice to the earth. Good planets are hard to find.
